The College of Information Technology of Zhejiang Chinese Medical University presently has a undergraduate computer science and technology program, four teaching and research departments (basic computer teaching and research department, teaching and research department of computer science I, teaching and research department of computer science II, physics teaching and research department), one research laboratory (research lab of computer application in medicine), one provincial teaching demonstration center (experimental teaching center of medical information technology). In 2005, computer science and technology was identified as the key program by the university. The physics teaching and research department as well as the teaching and research department of computer science (I) were awarded as the excellent demonstration teaching and research departments. The College of Information Technology assumes the responsibility for offering the basic information technology courses and physics courses to all undergraduate and graduate students, and the information technology courses in computer science and other science and engineering majors, as well as managing the campus network.
The College of Information Technology has a medical information technology experimental teaching center, composed of four major laboratories, namely, basic computer laboratory, professional computer laboratory, physics laboratory and clinical information system, as well as 17 sub-laboratories, and more than 1,300 sets of teaching equipments worth more than 11 million, which can meet the experimental needs of 1200-1500 students. Besides, the college has been established 10 relatively stable and high-quality off-campus teaching practice bases in Zhejiang province.
The College of Information Technology relied on the advantage of medical aspect, emphasizes on “Computer + X” personnel training, and focuses on four fields closely related with the information technology and medicine and pharmacology, namely, the development and management of medical database, the design and management of hospital network, the development and maintenance of medical device software as well as the medical digital image processing. The college integrates the information technology with the traditional Chinese medicine, as well as the medical health with modern hospital management, to gradually form the feature of computer science with traditional Chinese medicine and modern medicine background.
The college currently has 540 undergraduate students, and has trained more than 700 inter-disciplinary computer specialists with medicine background for the development of informationization in medical health in Zhejiang province and even all over the country. The college always focuses on fostering high-quality applied talents, and developing their creative and practical ability. In the recent years, our students have won prizes over 60 times in the national and Zhejiang collegiate programming contest, collegiate “challenge cup” competition, multimedia contest, mathematical contest in modeling (MCM) and so on. One student became a system analyst, and over 200 students passed the National Computer technology and software professional and technical qualifications (level) examinations, and gained the intermediate level certifications of network engineer, software programmer, database engineer, software evaluator. In the recent year, over 20 graduates have been admitted as post-graduate students to the famous universities such as Zhejiang University, East China Normal University etc. The employment status of our students has been above the average in Zhejiang province for years.
The College of Information Technology presently has 31 faculties and staffs, and 23 are faculties, including 3 professors, 6 associate professors, 14 instructors, in which 15 hold master’s degrees, 2 possess doctoral degrees, and 2 are doctoral candidates, and 1 was awarded “Qianjiang Talent”. There are two Master"s supervisors.
The College has the excellent scientific research. In the recent years, 13 textbooks have been edited or subedited by faculties, and over 10 textbooks have been co-edited. Our college directed and participated in more than 40 bureau-level and above projects, with 3 patents of invention and 1 practical patent, as well as 1 software copyright and over 100 published papers.
