School of Humanities and Management

The School of Humanities and management is a newly-founded school which consists of two departments, Department of Management and Department of Foreign Languages.

The Department of Management of ZJ Chinese Medical University was established in 1997. It currently has a staff of 28 teachers, seven of which have secondary senior professional title or higher, and 21 have a master degree or higher. There are more than 30 guest professors. With regard to student cultivation, the Department focuses on the cultivation of the overall quality and practical competence of the students in arts, science and medicine.

The Department of Foreign Languages was founded in June, 2006, following the successful renaming of Zhejiang Chinese Medical College to Zhejiang Chinese Medical University (ZCMU). Of its 64 staff, 12 are professors and associate professors.

The Department consists of English section, non-English major teaching section, and Foreign Language Learning Center. The administration offices of the CFL are made up of three sections, namely, CPC Branch Office, Office of the School, Youth League Committee and Student Office. Current enrollment is over 500 students in English BA programs and about 120 students in English minors. Apart from offering programs to English majors and minors, the Department is also responsible for designing and delivering foreign language and related courses to all undergraduate and graduate students at ZCMU.

The past years witness the fast and steady development of the college. Now, it has 12 multimedia language laboratories, including more than 680 personal computers and other advanced electronic teaching equipment. The Department also has internet access system and other modern teaching facilities to meet the various requirements of teaching and research. It owns one reading room which boasts more than 25 thousand books, dozens of major publications of English teaching and research journals and newspapers, and at least 300 sets of audio-visual files.

Since its inception, the Department provides students with an excellent education in liberal arts. The passing rate of TEM-4 (Test for English Majors: Band Four)and TEM-8(Test for English Majors: Band Eight)has exceeded the national average. Graduates of this Department are equipped to pursue careers in foreign affairs, foreign trade, journalism, education, tourism, among others. Others may choose to pursue graduate degrees in English or related areas including education and business.

The whole School emphasizes international exchange and cooperation. Since 2010, the school has successively entered into an agreement with the Business School, University of Glamorgan, U.K., and the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, U.S.A., under which, once a student reaches its third year in university or graduates, it can apply for further study at the above two schools, or it can choose to apply to the postgraduate study program of the Chinese medicine history and literature specialty (Chinese medicine & health affair Administration direction) of this university.
