Graduated from Zhejiang A&F University in 1986 with a bachelor’s degree, gained a doctor’s degree in botany in 2001 from Northwest University and took up the CAS post-doctoral program between 2003 and 2005;

Currently serves as doctoral and postgraduate supervisor of Zhejiang Chinese Medical University in Chinese Herbology, one of Zhejiang Young and Middle-aged Leaders of Zhejiang College and University Specialties/Disciplines, and botany professor, director of Flora Discipline, responsible person of master station of botany, and responsible person of Botany and Plant Sciences Master’s Program in Zhejiang Normal University;

Holds concurrent posts as member of the board of Botanical Society of Zhejiang, member of the round-1 review panel for NNSFC Committee, of the review panel for sci-tech projects of Science Technology Department of Zhejiang Province, and of Medicinal Plants and Herbal Medicines Subcommittee, Structural Botany Subcommittee, and Reproductive Biology Subcommittee of Botanical Society of China, as well as member of International Association for Plant Taxonomy (IAPT) and Botanical Society of America (BSA) and a reviewer forJournal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry (SCI Zone-I), Food Chemistry (SCI Zone-II), Data Mining and Knowledge Discovery (SCI Zone-II), Journal of Food Science (SCI Zone-II), Environmental and Experimental Botany, Journal of Agricultural Science, and Journal of Medicinal Plants Research;

Has chaired 1 NNSFC project and 2 provincial and ministerial research tasks, for which one prize for provincial/ministerial achievements was gained;

In recent years, has published 35 papers on international journals like Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry and Food Chemistry that can be searched on SCI Journal List, including 4 on Zone-I and 12 on Zone-II (including 2 TOPs);

Has trained 18 masters, among whom one went to Aarhus University, two went to Chinese University of Hong Kong, and one studies in Zhejiang University for a doctor’s degree, and now is mentoring 8 graduate candidates.
