Graduated from the Second Military Medical University in 1988 with a bachelor’s degree and gained the Doctor of Pharmacy from the same university in 1993;

Currently serves as director of the Office of Pharmacognosy Academic Affairs, professor and doctoral supervisor for the School of Pharmacy, SMMU, as well as a leader of the national priority discipline “Pharmacognosy” and of the specialty “Chinese medicine pharmacology” under the national priority discipline “Pharmacology” and of the discipline “Chinese Herbology”;

Is also a visiting scholar to Ghent University, Belgium and visiting professor to University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, U.S.;

Holds concurrent posts as executive director of the Botanical Society of China and deputy director of its Medicinal Plants and Herbal Drugs Subcommittee, deputy director of Chinese Medical Association Chinese Medicine Appraisal Branch, chair of the board of Botanical Society of Shanghai, and deputy director of Whole-army Chinese Medicine Committee;

Has trained 11 post-doctors, 15 doctors, and 40 masters; published more than 240 papers (100 of which are SCI papers); filed 20 patent applications (15 of which have been granted the patent); completed as chief editor and participated in the compilation of 15 books; and gained one 2^ndprize for national sci-tech progress, and three 2^ndprizes and three 3^rdprizes for whole-army and provincial/ministerial sci-tech progress.
