Graduated from Department of Chemical Engineering, Zhejiang University of Technology in July 1984 with a bachelor’s degree in analytical chemistry, and later studied under Academician Peizhang LU and gained the Doctor of Science from Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, CAS in April 1991;

Since June 1991, has been working for National Chromatographic Research and Analysis Center, Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, CAS, during which period, gained the Max-Planck-Institut research fund and worked in the Medical School of University of Tübingen, Germany, between October 1995 and September 1997; was promoted to Researcher in October 1997; accepted the doctoral supervisor offer in May 1999; gained the fund from the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars in 2004; and began to serve as director ofM etabonomics Research Center from 2005;

Now holds concurrent posts as vice chairman and secretary general of China Society of Chromatography, member of the board of China Mass Spectrometry Society, and member of China Tobacco Monopoly Bureau Science and Technology Committee;

As well as editor forJ. Chromatogr. Band editorial board member for a dozen of national and foreign journals such asMetabolomics,Chromatographia,J. Pharmaceut. Biomed. Anal., andJ. Sep. Sci., standing member of the Science Committee of International HPLC Conference, vice chair of the 30^thInternational Capillary Chromatography Conference and the 33^rdand 37^thInternational HPLC Conferences, and group leader of Sino-Germany Joint Research Group for “the Separation and Analysis of Complex Samples”;

Has published more than 30 articles on national and international journals as well as 4 monographs, and filed 34 national patent applications for invention (of which 17 have been granted the patents);

Of his researches, two won the 1 ^stprize of China Association for Instrumental Analysis for Sic-tech Achievement, one won the 1 ^stprize of AQSIQ for Sci-Tech Inspired Inspection, two gained the 2 ^ndprize of China Tobacco Monopoly Bureau for Sci-Tech Achievement, and one gained the 1^stprize for Hunan Sci-Tech Progress;

Has trained and/or is mentoring 28 doctor students and 9 master students in his task groups.
