Yongsheng FAN graduated from Zhejiang Chinese Medical College in August 1977 and took a refresher course in internal medicine in Saga University, Japan between September 1988 and October 1990 on government fund;

Currently serves as professor, doctoral supervisor, and president of Zhejiang Chinese Medical University;

As well as Senior Specialist of Zhejiang Province entitled to special government allowance of the State Council, deputy director of China Association of Chinese Medicine Rheumatology Subcommittee, member of Chinese Medicine Specialists Advisory Committee for National Sci-Tech Support Program, one of the 4^thNational Instructors for Academic and Experience Inheritance from Prestigious Senior Chinese Medicine Specialists, member of MoE Colleges and Universities Chinese Medicine Teaching Instructive Committee, and executive director of the 5^thboard of China Association of Chinese Medicine, and Distinguished Chinese Medicine Practitioner of Zhejiang Province;

Since his return from Japan in 1990, has been engaged in the diagnosis, treatment and research of autoimmune rheumatic diseases such as systemic lupus erythematosus; after long-term clinical practice, and in combination with ancient classics, he proposed the SLE basic therapy of TCM – the detoxification – blood stasis removal – yin nourishing combination therapy;

Has undertaken 9 provincial/ministerial and above tasks and projects including those funded by National MoST “15^thFive-Year Plan” Sci-Tech Development Program, “11^thFive-Year Plan” Support Program, National Natural Science Foundation of China, and SATCM; achieved breakthrough results in the autoimmune rheumatology field, especially with respect to the clinical and basic research of integrative Chinese-western medicine for SLE; and won in 2000 and 2007 respectively the 1^stprize and 2^ndprize of the People’s Government of Zhejiang Province for Science and Technology;

Has published more than 90 articles as well as 9 monographs as chief editor, including the National Higher Education “11^THFive-Year Plan” Planning Textbook “Synopsis of Golden Chamber”;

In recent five years, has completed the mentorship to 11 doctors and 12 masters and now is mentoring 9 doctoral candidate and 6 graduate candidates.
