The School of Medical Technology was founded on the basis of the original College of Audiology and Speech, College of Information Technology, and College of Life Science in 2014. The specialty of medical technology is selected as the First-class discipline Construction Project in Zhejiang Province as part of the 13th five-year plan. The School now has five Bachelor Degree Programs: audiology and speech rehabilitation, medical laboratory science, sanitary inspection and quarantine, computer science and technology and medical information engineering. These programs are awarded as the national special major of the 11th five-year plan, the advantageous major, emerging specialty, applied experimental specialty of the 12th and 13th five-year plan in Zhejiang Province respectively. The School also has three Master Degree Programs: audiology, clinical laboratory diagnostics, and TCM informatics, of which the TCM informatics and TCM information management science were selected as the key specialties approved by the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Zhejiang Province.

The School is now equipped with a qualified faculty of 54 people, of which 54% has senior professional titles and 36% has Doctoral degrees. There are 2 professors awarded as the New Century “151 project” talents of Zhejiang Province, 1 as the Qianjiang talent, 1 National Model Teacher, 1 Model Teacher of Zhejiang Province, 1 enjoying the special allowance of the State Council, 1 chief scientist of the National “973 Project”

The School has three experimental teaching centers including hearing and speech rehabilitation, clinical examination and quarantine, medical information technology etc, and its acreage is 4431 square meters in total. These centers have been honorably awarded with Model Center of Experimental Teaching in Zhejiang Province and Key Construction Project of Experimental Teaching Center in Zhejiang Province during the Twelfth Five-year Plan. The School is a partner school of the Prime Minister's Action Plan, and is a partner developing base of Audiologist talent with the otolaryngology institute of the People's Liberation Army, as well as the national identification institute of hearing aid testing. At present, the School is in cooperation with a host of hearing technology companies such as American Starkey, Danish Oticon, and Germany Meiko etc. in the field of building laboratory, talent cultivation and overseas visiting study. Annual donation to the School has reached more than 1.2 million in RMB. The School has developed more than 50 off campus practice bases such as some top hospitals in Zhejiang Province, Beijing 301 Hospital, Zhejiang Disease Prevention and Control Center and so on. The School has also established good cooperation relationship with 7 universities and research institutes. They are Davis, University of California, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Cardiff Metropolitan University, University of Southampton, and University of British Columbia and so forth.
